ICO Decision notice into Unpublished report into large outbreak of E.coli O157 in 2022 - Short Summary

5th March 2025

The Information Commissioner's office (ICO) Freedom of Information decision notice of 05/03/2025 stated 

 

"The Commissioner requires UKHSA to take the following steps to ensure compliance with the legislation" 

 

"Disclose the requested outbreak report and the information requested in points one, three, five, six and seven of the request". 

 

"UKHSA must take these steps within 30 calendar days of the date of this decision notice. Failure to comply may result in the Commissioner making written certification of this fact to the High Court pursuant to section 54 of the Act and may be dealt with as a contempt of court". 

 

It Further went onto say "The Commissioner also agrees with the complainant’s argument that the people affected by the outbreak should be given information about how they became ill".
