E.coli O157 & Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome


Yet another FSA product Recall due to possible contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E.coli (STEC) and one person sadly dies in E.coli O145 (STEC) outbreak linked to cheese.

2nd January 2024

On the 29th December 2023 the FSA stated on their website “Chiltern Artisan recalls Chilli Sticks because of contamination with E. Coli. Chiltern Artisan has taken the precautionary step of recalling Chiltern Artisan Chilli Sticks because E. Coli has been found in some of the products. The use-by date is also not displayed on the product packaging, making the product unsafe to eat”.

It was announced by The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) that one person had died in Scotland which has been linked to cheeses with E.coli O145 (STEC).  
It is reported there are 30 confirmed cases in England and Scotland possibly due to this outbreak.  Link below to the story in the Guardian newspaper.
