There were three product recalls due to Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) in August this year as indicated on the Food Standards Agency website in food alerts and recalls that usually apply to England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These were on:

“A.Vogel Ltd is recalling Rapunzel bioSnacky Das Original Red Clover Seeds for Sprouts and Seedlings because E. coli (STEC) has been found in the seed. This recall also applies to Scotland and has been issued separately by Food Standards Scotland”.

“Summit Foods is recalling various filled wraps because of possible contamination with E.coli (STEC): Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, Snacksters Hoi Sin Wrap, East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap, Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap”. Link to the FSA product recalls below.

As we have said previously, if you let STEC into a ready to eat food anyone who consumes it is at a high risk of serious illness.

“Greencore is recalling three pasta products because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.  They are Asda Cheese & Tomato Pasta Salad; Asda Nacho Cheese Pasta Salad; and Morrisons Chicken and Bacon Pasta”. This recall is specifically for England, Scotland and Wales.

Northern Ireland specifically, on 28/08/2026 “Macroom Buffalo Cheese Products is recalling Macroom Buffalo Cheese Mozzarella and Macroom Buffalo Cheese Bocconcini because Listeria monocytogenes has been found in the products”. Link to the FSA product recalls below.

In our news article on this website on 1st August we stated “according to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) weekly Notifiable diseases: causative agents reports for 2026 (often referred to as NOID’s Notification of infectious diseases), indicates there is a strong possibility that an outbreak of E.coli O157 occurred in or around week 24 ending 14th June 2026 when there were 30 reported cases for that week. This number had increased to 35 cases according to their week 26 report of 28th June 2026 in relation to week 24”.

This outbreak still appears to be continuing as the figures for week 34 (week ending 22ndAugust 2026) indicate.
