E.coli O157 & Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome

Surrey nursery closes

1st December 2011

Part of the Pavilion Day Nursery in Sunbury upon Thames has been closed for deep cleaning after a child was diagnosed with E.coli O157, the Health Protection Agency has said.

The agency has sent letters to parents of children who attend the nursery, as well as GPs in the area.

Doctors said it was "probable" another child who attends the nursery was also infected, but it had not been confirmed.

All staff and children who experience symptoms are being tested.
